At Bumann & Sohn in Cologne, creativity and community recently came together for a special occasion – the Mwana Mboka Marché.
As an agency that thrives on cultural movements and social impact, we were proud to help bring this event to life, blending art, music, and fashion with a meaningful cause.
Marketplace with Purpose
Throughout the day, the venue transformed into a vibrant hub where local artists, designers, and music lovers gathered to celebrate creativity. Visitors explored an inspiring selection of handmade fashion pieces, a DIY zone to get creative and exclusive pre-loved items from renowned social media creators like Alicia Andrich and Willy Will.
What made this marketplace truly special was its impact: 100% of the proceeds from the pre-loved fashion sales directly supported the Mwana Mboka project, which empowers young people in the Democratic Republic of Congo through education and training.
Music, Energy & Community
DJs Moussa, Ceelo, and Foudjo set the tone with infectious beats, creating a dynamic atmosphere from start to finish. Later in the day, Congolese singer Milaa delivered a powerful live performance, captivating the crowd and reinforcing the connection between music and cultural empowerment.
More than just an event, the Marché was a space where people connected—artists, visitors, and changemakers exchanging ideas and sharing a vision for a future where culture and creativity drive impact.
Mwana Mboka – The Bigger Picture
While the Marché was an unforgettable experience, it also shed light on the larger mission behind Mwana Mboka.
The name Mwana Mboka, meaning “Child of the Land”, represents an initiative by Welthungerhilfe, dedicated to supporting 100 young people in Bunia, DRC. Through hands-on training and mentorship, the project provides skills that enable them to create their own opportunities and work towards financial independence.
The Democratic Republic of Congo is a country full of talent, resilience, and rich cultural heritage, yet many young people—especially women—face significant barriers in accessing education and economic opportunities. Mwana Mboka seeks to break this cycle by equipping them with tools for a sustainable future.
The Mwana Mboka Marché is a reminder that art and culture are not just about expression; they are powerful tools for change. Events like these highlight the strength of community-driven initiatives and the impact they can have when creativity meets purpose.
